Nuggets 53: Pillow Peace

How good it feels to sink into your pillow after a long day. Jesus' day had been like that. As the boat pushed away from shore, Jesus immediately stretched out in the stern, head on a pillow, and relaxed into sleep.
A sudden storm burst on the lake, whipping waves into the boat. The terrified disciples woke Jesus. "We are about to go under!" Jesus rebuked the wind and waves. Peace immediately settled over the lake.
"You of little faith, why are you so afraid?", Jesus asked. To our worldly minds fear would be the norm. In Jesus' kingdom thinking, faith is the norm.
Our friend Pamela Marson says, "The safest place in all the world to be is in the center of God's will." Jesus knew he was on God's mission. Nothing could happen to him until it was completed. Each of us is also called by God for a purpose. If we are traveling on that mission, even amidst storms of risk and opposition, we can sleep the untroubled sleep of Jesus.
