Nuggets 78: Yes, You

My friend Bob is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force. Bob has been transferred to the war zone as a wing commander. His wife Brenda emailed me requesting prayer on Bob's behalf. "He takes the responsibility of his command so seriously," she wrote. "He is aware that his decisions can put his people in harm's way."
The people in Bob's wing don't know how blessed they are to be led by someone who is not only qualified militarily, but also fears God, has a conscience and cares about those under him. Bob is more than just a good commander. He is God's agent for good.
In fact, God calls every one of us, you included, for some kind of ministry. It may be official or informal ministry, long-term or temporary, inside or outside the church. Each of us is saved to serve. A school teacher tells me how he prays and works for the wellbeing of the students who pass through his classes. Some are very troubled and have no other loving, righteous influence in their lives. Christian supervisors, artists, law officers, medical workers--all can be used by God to touch lives with God's grace. There is no greater honor than being invited by God to work with him.
Bob has accepted being God's man in his location. When God calls you to minister, you may think God has the wrong address, that you could never be used by God to help anyone. Many people in scripture felt this way but God used them to make a powerful difference. Truth is, there are already people you influence. You choice is how. Is it time to ask God to show you your assignment? To discover the gifts he has given you for service?
